Centrifugal Fans

IMC Magnetics Corporation - Centrifugal FansIMC Magnetics is an acknowledged leader in the design, development, prototyping, manufacture and testing of centrifugal fans and blowers for use in the aerospace, defense and commercial sectors of industry. IMC has designed and produced high quality, high performance centrifugal fans and blowers for marine, aircraft, military vehicle, and industrial/commercial purposes. Almost every centrifugal fan and blower that IMC Magnetics produces is custom designed by IMC to meet the customer's specific application and requirements.

IMC Magnetics Corporation - Centrifugal FansCentrifugal fans, sometimes referred to as "squirrel cage" fans, use centrifugal force to throw air away from the fan blades. With centrifugal fans, the air literally changes direction by 90 degrees - therefore, more space is traditionally required in the design of a centrifugal fan. Commonly used in industrial applications and other sectors requiring higher pressures than vane axial fans or tube axial fans, centrifugal fans have fan blades that are either curved forward, straight, or curved backward. Centrifugal fans with blades curved forward are typically quieter than the other two blade designs. Straight-bladed centrifugal fans are more flexible in the sense that they can be used to convey materials or handle a dirty air environment. Centrifugal fans with blades curved backward are generally considered more efficient than centrifugal fans with straight or curved forward blades. The efficiency of centrifugal fans range from 60 to 80 percent. Centrifugal blowers can attain much higher pressures than centrifugal fans, as high as 20 pounds per square inch (psi). In fact, centrifugal blowers are more similar to centrifugal pumps than centrifugal fans. Centrifugal blowers are generally used in environments that are not susceptible to clogging or blockages.

IMC Magnetics engineered and manufactured centrifugal fans and blowers for Omuri-Japan that were used in the Patriot Missile System. Additionally, IMC has designed, built and delivered centrifugal fans contracted for by the U.S. Defense Industrial Supply Center, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. One of IMC Magnetics' strengths is its complete line of electromechanical products and services, making IMC one of the few companies worldwide that has both the engineering and manufacturing capability to design, test and produce centrifugal fans and blowers to a customer's requirements.
