Defense Industry

Since 1951, IMC Magnetics has been developing and producing solenoids, solenoid valves, fans and blowers, motors, and other components for the defense industry. IMC designs and manufactures products for jet fighters, bombers, cargo aircraft, helicopters, U.S. Navy surface ships and nuclear submarines. IMC Magnetics has also produced custom solenoid valves for hydraulic applications in military tracked vehicles. As a producer of fans and blowers in types such as centrifugal, mixed flow, tube-axial and vane-axial, IMC Magnetics complies with standards MIL B23071 and MIL I45208. In addition, 30 percent of IMC solenoid sales are to the United States Government (for defense purposes) or to contractors and suppliers of products and systems to the U.S. Government for defense programs.

IMC Magnetics has developed an extensive customer base in the defense sector, including companies such as Parker, Fairchild, Hamanaka, NHBB/Omori, Lockheed, Boeing, General Dynamics and Goodrich. Other valued defense industry customers of IMC are Airscrew, Raytheon, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Argo-Tech, Aero Controlex, Fresco, and Transaero. In addition, IMC Magnetics supplies components such as solenoids, fans, motors and other products directly to U.S. government agencies. One example of a recent government contract would be the delivery of IMC centrifugal fans to the Defense Industrial Supply Center (contracted from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office).

To adhere to the stringent military specifications that are part of any defense-related product, IMC Magnetics has developed an extremely extensive Quality Assurance System. As mentioned previously, IMC complies with standards MIL B23071 and MIL I45208 in the production of fans and blowers for military applications. IMC Magnetics' in-house quality assurance capabilities include acceptance tests on air and nitrogen pneumatic products as well as MIL-H-5606, MIL-PRF-83232, MIL-H-7808, MIL-C-7024 and Skydrol fluid components.
