Fans & Motors
Since
1951, IMC Magnetics has been a recognized leader in the design,
development, prototyping, production and testing of fans and motors
for the aerospace, defense and commercial sectors of industry. For
over half a century, IMC has manufactured high performance fans
and motors, such as DC brushless fans, induction motors, tube axial
fans, vane axial fans, centrifugal fans and blowers, and mixed flow
fans. Other IMC Magnetics motor products include stepper motors,
synchronous motors and DC brushless motors.
IMC has designed and developed high quality, high performance fans,
blowers and motors for aircraft, military vehicle, aerospace, marine,
commercial and semiconductor applications. Almost every product
that IMC Magnetics produces is custom designed by IMC to meet the
customer's specific requirements and application. Samples of IMC
Magnetics' work for customers with fan, blower and motor requirements
include the following:
- Centrifugal Fans and Blowers: engineered for Omori-Japan, used
in the Patriot Missile System
- DC Brushless Fans: developed for Honeywell Canada for the Hawker
Horizon aircraft
- DC Brushless Motors: designed for BE Aerospace, used in the
Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft
- Induction Motors: built for GEC Marconi for military aircraft
- Mixed Flow Fans: engineered for Bell Textron for the 609 Tiltrotor
Helicopter
- Tube Axial Fans: designed for Fairchild, used in the Apache
Longbow Helicopter
- Vane Axial Fans: built for the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command
for the Apache Helicopter
- Stepper Motors: developed for Lockheed Martin, used in the A2100
Satellite, GPS Constellation and many more
- Synchronous Motors: engineered for Westinghouse/Omaha Power
for use in a Nuclear Power Plant

Other examples of IMC products
include stepper motors for use in U.S. Navy nuclear submarines,
DC brushless fans for use in office automation and telecommunications
equipment, and centrifugal fans contracted for by the U.S.
Defense Industrial Supply Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. |
| IMC Magnetics has also
designed fans for use in environmental control systems, specifically
for air movement, smoke detectors and electronic cooling, just
to name a few applications. |

As noted above, IMC Magnetics custom designs most of its products
to a customer's specific requirements, usually to an Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) source control drawing. IMC can design fan and
blower motors for any AC or DC voltage and frequency, although the
most common voltages are 115, 208 or 230 volts AC and 28 volts DC.
IMC Magnetics can also develop fans and motors requiring dual voltages
such as 115/230 or 208/440 volts AC. IMC has the capability to design
motors and fans for standard AC frequencies such as 60 Hz and 400
Hz, but also specializes in providing designs that require a wide
range of frequencies. Additionally, IMC Magnetics specializes in
custom DC brushless fans and blower motors for any customer application
or requirement. Furthermore, IMC's testing laboratory rates the
performance of all designed fans from tests made in accordance with
the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) Standard 210. Call
