Mixed Flow Fans

IMC Magnetics is a recognized leader in the design, development, prototyping, production and testing of mixed flow fans for use in the aerospace, defense and commercial sectors of industry. Mixed flow fans are used when both the characteristics of a vane axial fan and a centrifugal fan are needed in the same application. In other words, the mixed flow fan incorporates relatively small size and straight airflow with high-pressure capability and quieter operation (lower noise). Some typical uses for mixed flow fans include electronics cooling, recirculation fans, avionics cooling, condenser fans, and airborne systems (such as radar) cooling, to name a few.

One of IMC Magnetics' strong points is the capability of rapid prototyping using Pro-E solid models and quick casting process to verify a mixed flow fan design quickly before the actual casting tool is ordered. The IMC 270 Volt DC brushless mixed flow fan is just one example of a DC brushless mixed flow fan used in an aerospace application. In addition, the IMC Magnetics Laboratory performs rigorous product testing on mixed flow fans from tests developed in accordance with the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) Standard 210.
