Vane-Axial Fans

For over half a century, IMC Magnetics continues to be an acknowledged leader in the design, development, prototyping, production and testing of vane axial fans for the aerospace, defense and industrial sectors. IMC has developed and produced high performance, high quality vane axial fans for aerospace, marine, semiconductor, telecommunications, aircraft, office automation, military vehicle, and commercial/industrial applications. Virtually every axial fan that IMC Magnetics produces is custom designed to meet the customer's specific requirements.

Vane axial fans are like tube axial fans, but also include the added feature of guide vanes, which improve the efficiency of the vane axial fan by straightening as well as directing the desired airflow. Other vane axial fans have variable pitch blades to regulate airflow volume. The tubular design of typical vane axial fans allows for high performance while occupying minimal space. Vane axial fans can have an efficiency rating as high as 75 percent. Vane axial fans are used in a wide range of applications requiring high volume airflow at moderate to high pressures.

IMC Magnetics designs and manufactures four major groups of vane axial fans, in 60 Hz, 400 Hz, DC and patented "turbo-slot" blade versions. Airflow for IMC's vane axial fans ranges from 4 to 2500 CFM (cubic feet per minute), with the smallest vane axial fan being 1 inch in diameter to as large as 14 inches in diameter. The material used for the vane axial fan impeller and housing is Aluminum A356.0-T6, per specification AMS-4218. For most applications, IMC Magnetics uses investment castings for the vane axial fan impeller and housing.

IMC has designed and produced vane axial fans for the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command for the Apache Helicopter. IMC Magnetics has also developed vane axial fans for use in environmental control systems, specifically for air movement, smoke detectors, and electronic cooling, to name a few.
